Promoting passenger trains as a transportation alternative in Florida since 1983. We are citizens who advocate for Amtrak, commuter rail, intercity rail and transit for Florida's future.
NARP's Malcolm Kenton is quoted in this article from the DC Streets Blog which addresses the question of Amtrak's role in America's future plans for passenger trains, both high speed and conventional.

The Orlando Sentinel is quoting Governor Rick Scott, saying that the recent freeze of contracts for SunRail is not a political decision.
So, will Rick Scott turn out to be a proponent of passenger rail? Or will he join others in his party in criticizing passenger rail initiatives which require public support?
We keep waiting for an answer to that question. Here at the beginning of February--Scott's second month in office-- we still don't have one yet.
