More on the Amtrak-FDOT row over the SunRail agreement, this time from the Miami Herald.

As the Herald reports, the ramifications for Central Florida could be dire.

The FDOT-CSX agreement for the SunRail operation in Central Florida has Amtrak officials in an uproar, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

The fracas, if unresolved, would affect Amtrak trains operating over the 61-miles of the A-line from DeLand to Poinciana (which is, of course, being sold by CSX to FDOT for SunRail).

Also affected would be SunRail's planned use of Amtrak's maintenance facility at Sanford.

Be sure to read the letter from Amtrak President Joseph Boardman linked to the story.

Both are available by following this link:

Some in the Panhandle town of Crestview, Florida, are pushing to reconstruct the city's long-demolished rail passenger station as a multipurpose civic building, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News:

    http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/crestview-24607-depot-historic.html

The "new" station could also serve as an Amtrak stop if passenger trains begin to run along the Gulf Coast once again.
