Metrolink in Los Angeles had a similar encounter like this at its Glendale station when they first started up service in 1992. The Metrolink platforms and ticket machines were located just north of the depot, but in a sense, trains still stopped on the same platforms, but in a different location on those platforms.
Eventually, as the Glendale depot was being remodeled, Amtrak moved its staffed location in the San Fernando Valley area to Van Nuys to be closer to the growing areas in the western part of the valley, hence the reason the Coast Starlight no longer stops in Glendale, but Van Nuys and Burbank Airport instead. When the work was finished at Glendale and the bus transportation mall opened there, Greyhound took up residence in the ticket area where Amtrak had previously occupied in the depot, and this enabled Greyhound to get out of their dingy little cramped facility they previously had in an unfavorable location.
