In this particular case, I believe passenger rail will be profitable, perhaps not by much, but as long as it breaks even on operating cost, the rest will come from increased value of properties that FECI owns near and along the line. The greatest cost will probably be the new 40 miles, but what if that turns out to be an elevated structure on the BeeLine Expressway median. Also it is important to note that FEC has cab signals, which perform some of the functions of PTC already and can be fitted easily with automatic train-stop. This means that 90mph or even 110mph is much more feasible than on other lines.
