One of the biggest hurdles will be a new station for Mobile, AL. The former L&N station was torn down and the former GM&O station is for sale.
I recall back in Amtrak's first year when they dropped the Lake Shore because they could not find a suitable location to have the train stop in Cleveland. A lease of a half-million per year was declined to continue having the train stop at the Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland.Amtrak then restored the service in 1975 when a new modular structure was built in Cleveland, so the train was on a hiatus for a little more than three years.
I favor restoring the New Orleans-Jacksonville route, but feel that should be an extension of the "City of New Orleans" instead. In fact, speaking of restoring service on the Florida East Coast, it would sound practical to me to bring the train on that route and rename it "The City of Miami" (Chicago-New Orleans-Jacksonville-Miami), but I know that Amtrak does NOT have the equipment to do so.

Does anyone know if the local newspaper (Tallahassee Democrat) and TV stations have been notified about this rally?
