According to a recent survey in the St. Petersburg Times, area residents would like to be homesick the most for is light rail. It's high time PSTA got together with CSX and convert the last remaining rail line in Pinellas County to dual use, just like what San Diego, CA did for its first trolley line between downtown and San Ysidro. The same could be held for the CSX line here in Pinellas County between downtown Clearwater and Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. PSTA could run their light rail trains during the day, and CSX could use the line to keep freight operations in service during the night hours. It would be a win-win situation for the PSTA, transit riders in Pinellas County, shippers/receivers along the line, as well as for CSX. No losers here.
