The threats to Amtrak long distance trains have the attention of at least one newspaper, The Buffalo News:

Although the attitude of the reporter is defeatist at best, what will happen next, in this era of draconian Congressional budget cutting, is anyone's guess.

Unfortunately, the destinations I need to reach are not currently serviced in Georgia via Amtrak or any air connections. So I have to rely on using the Federal Highway system currently. What a waste of my time & fuel energy.

Our nation's transportation system is doomed to gridlock and decay if the teabaggers get a hold of controlling it. And Romney is a big doofas on transportation issues. At least I can credit President Obama for being the first president to my knowledge willing to be serious about addressing transportation issues and providing more funds for them. He's a far cry better than any other president in the last half-century in opinion.
