Promoting passenger trains as a transportation alternative in Florida since 1983. We are citizens who advocate for Amtrak, commuter rail, intercity rail and transit for Florida's future.
In 2011, the popular Amtrak stop at Okeechobee received a new small station/waiting room and a new platform.
Approximately 4,000 people used the Okeechobee Amtrak stop in Amtrak's last fiscal year. It is an important stop in a sparsely populated area of the state. FCRP and NARP worked to obtain this stop in the 1980s.
The station, built with Federal stimulus funds, replaces a bus-style shelter formerly used by Amtrak.
