Thank you to all who attended National Train Day at Tampa Union Station and the FCRP Spring Meeting of Members!

Media coverage of the National Train Day event, which drew over 2,000 people, was significant. Some of the coverage can be found by clicking here and here.

More on National Train Day and the Tampa Union Station endowment fund can be found at the Friends of Tampa Union Station Facebook page,

In case you missed the meeting, minutes from the Spring Meeting of Members will soon be posted here to The Silver Rail Blog.

I read the threads and saw a picture of Amtrak locomotive #451 dressed up in the classic phase III livery. That clor scheme really stood out and gave Amtrak's trains easy recognition.

I spent National Train Day in Chicago, and rode the Cardinal in 3 hours late, no thanks to CSX for a signalling problem and dispatching foul-up the day before.

Waiting in line to see equipment displays at Union Station was like waiting for a ride or attraction at an amusement park. I spent over an hour in line waiting to see the former "Olympic Hiawatha" cars that were on display. Former Milwaukee Road steam locomotive #261 is undergoing restoration, which will eventually provide the motive power for the restored Milwaukee consist.

I do plan to be present in Tampa for next year's celebration for Tampa Union Station's centennial.
