CSX Plans to Offer Lines in Florida For Sale

Included in the potential line sales are the former Seaboard and L&N lines across the Panhandle (former route of Amtrak's Sunset Limited) and the route of both the Silver Meteor and Silver Star north of West Palm Beach. CSX lines in the Carolinas used by Amtrak would also be impacted.

    CSX became the sickest fish in the tank when they tried to bite off Conrail and swallow it whole to prevent Norfolk Southern's merger before the millennium ended. Even after they fought it out in court and only got half the loaf, their physical plant could not handle it.
    As a result, it is time for CSX to heave its guts out and realize they will not win playing Monopoly any more. They have drawn a yellow card that calls for expensive repairs and the money is not there. The next time CSX goes to court, it will be time to chop them up for going bankrupt over their Conrail acquisition.
