Dinerless Silver Star "Experiment" Continues; Speak Up!

15 Nov 2015 5:22 PM | Jackson McQuigg (Administrator)

Members of at least one Amtrak passenger forum online are reporting that the Silver Star will remain without a diner until at least the end of April 2016.

See this thread on the Discuss Amtrak Trains Forum: http://discuss.amtraktrains.com/index.php?/topic/66241-new-no-diner-extension-new-points-calculation

FCRP reminds passengers that the end of a diner on the Silver Star may be a prelude to seeing this practice carried out on other trains. We encourage you to contact Amtrak and your elected officials to express your concerns about this practice.

For more information on how to contact your elected officials and this experiment, please read our earlier post on this subject.

Congressional micromanagers, coupled with an Amtrak whose focus is on the Northeast Corridor, has led to this situation. Demand better from both!

For about twice what I paid for my Micabuger cafe meals, I could have had a REAL Breakfast and a REAL lunch in the former Amtrak diner, sat down at a REAL table instead of being crowded out by a few drunks drooling all over the tables or the constant ringing of cellphones and trying to enjoy the scenery out the puny little Amfleet windows.
