Miami to Homestead by Commuter Rail Urged

01 Sep 2014 3:18 PM | Jackson McQuigg (Administrator)

FCRP Board Member Michael Smith has been urging transportation planners in Southeast Florida to include a disused former Seaboard rail line in their plans for an ever-growing Dade County.

Officials are considering the expansion of commuter rail over the Florida East Coast Railway lines in Southeast Florida. These new services would extend beyond the lines used by Tri-Rail today between West Palm Beach and Miami.

Why not, say Smith and the Coalition, include a link beyond the current plans to Homestead, too?

The map which Smith and the Coalition propose would take service from Homestead all the way up to the new Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) and beyond.

Smith has been aggressively promoting this approach through ads in newspapers in the Miami area as well as this recently-published flyer, which is being distributed.

Others interested in assisting this effort are encouraged to contact Smith, whose contact information is listed in the Officers and Contact Information section of this website.
