I've been in the new commuter coaches in Los Angeles and had the chance to observe the new crush systems. The new cab coaches on Metrolink look intimidating, much like those of the Genesis locomotives. Hopefully, this will be a deterrent to keep motorists off the tracks as trains approach. I got to view one of these cars and sit in the engineer's compartment at the joint RailPAC/NARP meeting in Los Angeles during the spring of 2011.
