Amtrak has issued an update on the Silver Service trains as part of its service restoration plan following Hurricane Sandy.

Both the Silver Star and Silver Meteor trains serving Florida are affected, with the Silver Star running within Florida only. The Silver Meteor will operate south of Washington, DC only.

The Auto Train will begin running as normal.

Stopped by Amtrak office in St. Petersburg; agent said the phone was rining off the hook. All Florida trains are running, including the Auto Train and thruway buses. However, all service has been suspended north of DC. The Capitol Limited is to resume service today and will be the only way access the west through Chicago. The Crescent is also running, but not north of DC.
