The critic in this article does not realize that the I-595 widening project is a bust already and very costly in comaparison to the streetcar project. If the new lanes on I-595 won't be albe to handle the additional traffic, the so-called premium express bus is doomed to be stuck in traffic, which won't draw many new riders. This makes the streetcar project look like a bargain, it will save passengers a transfer, and won't have to manuever around congested traffic to get off and back on the freeway like express buses do at intermediate stops.
