Too much money is being spent on building new roads, and why the current infrastructure is crumbling apart. This spending monster is taking money from smaller projects like Amtrak, public transit, airport runway repairs, bike paths, and pedestrian safety. Projects like building I-69 south of Indianapolis to Texas, I-49 north of Luoisiana to Kansas City, I-66 across Kentucky, and I-710 through South Pasadena can wait awhile longer, and are just adding to the deficit. New toll roads have been a failure from the start at easing traffic congestion and have only been carrying a dismal 16% of the traffic originally projected. Private toll roads are a conduit for corporate profits, not a transportation solution for the travelling public.
