I'll be taking Amtrak to Penn Station New York and back later this month and will return a report on any delays I may experience there. Also, a perspective on food service between the Silver Star and the Silver Meteor.

When I took the Silver Star, #92, into Penn Station on Thursday evening, 15 JUN 2017, the train stopped momentarily at the end of the Hudson River Tunnel. While switch repairs are going on, Amtrak and New Jersey Transit will be enduring pains of single track operation through the tunnel. We stood in front of the switch alignment for about 5 minutes before we finally received an approach signal to enter the station.
I had a delay upon leaving Penn Station again on Sunday afternoon, 18 JUN 2017, while taking the Silver Meteor #97. First off, the northbound train arrived late and its Viewliner II diner also had some mechanical problems. So, I'm unable to offer a review as an older Heritage diner was substituted by Sunnydale yards. Track and switch issues arose as we departed, as an on-time Acela train moved ahead of us on adjacent track, as well as an NJ Transit commuter train that followed, and lastly, for an arriving LIRR train. We finally got out of Penn Station nearly an hour late.
