National Train Day in Tampa and Jacksonville Successes!

National Train Day events in Jacksonville and Tampa were significant successes this year!

In Tampa, over 2,460 went through the cars versus 1,711 last year and 1,832 in 2012. There were a LOT of people, with a total up to 3,000 plus passengers who used the station that day. Lots of families and kids, lots of media, live Bay News 9 and news features from Channel 13 (Fox) and Channel 8 (NBC). Single-level equipment (a coach, sleeper, and lounge car, plus a locomotive) were supplied by Amtrak for the event.

Articles from area newspaper the Tampa Tribune can be found here:

Jacksonville for the first year had an Amtrak equipment display of single-level equipment including a rare Viewliner diner. The Florida East Coast Railway supplied their breast cancer awareness locomotive (with pink striping) for the event, as well.
